The world of social media is engaged by millions on a daily basis. Whether it be on a desktop computer at work or a handheld device on the go, the various platforms available such as Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat (to name a few), make it impossible to escape this digital world.
A notable feature that has been long established on Twitter and Facebook and is now making more of an appearance on Instagram, is the notion of becoming a verified member – a user marked by a little blue tick that gives emphasis to their profile. It authenticates highly sort after personalities, brands, business’ etc and greatly reduces the risk of impersonation.
So, what about the other folks who aren’t so much the ‘public figure’ type? How can we be invited to what seems to be an invite only club? Well, Facebook have decided to roll out a new type of verification that can actually be applied for.
Providing you’ve entered all details pertaining to the business in question correctly, and that Facebook can actively search online to verify that you are who you say you are, you can be graced by a black and white tick within a day. Yes, I said it right, it’s black and white not the famous blue and white tick. I’m guessing they still want to be able to keep a distinction, which does make sense. Hey, we’re not complaining.
OK, enough jibber jabber, let’s get you verified.
Login to your Facebook account and jump to your business fan page, click the More button (usually ellipses – three dots), click Edit settings, then General and finally Page Verification. Follow the instructions and wait for your tick to make an appearance.
Being verified places you in a better position when being searched for and also helps users to identify your real page to engage with you for conversation and even potential business.
